When the trusty old S-VHS format was launched back in the 1980’s, this led to the introduction of the S-Video connection standard. It was viewed as an up-grade from the well known standard, composite video, as it was capable of delivering superior picture quality. However unlike composite cables that can transmit audio and video, the S-Video cable can only transmit analogue video of standard definition video, typically at 480i or 576i.
Although S-Video has remained in the niche sector of the video industry, it features on many devices still being manufactured today such as DVD players, digital TV receivers, games consoles, televisions and projectors.
S-Video cables are most commonly used to connect a PC or laptop to a TV, as the graphics card industry has widely adopted S-Video as a video output standard. Please Contact Us if you require speaking to a technical advisor.
